How
to Become a Real Estate Broker
To be a real estate broker in Missouri you must do the following
things:
- You must take the salesperson pre-exam
course (48 hours), pass the exam, and complete the 24 hour
Missouri Real Estate Practice Course. You should
enroll for class as soon as possible to assure a spot in the class
you want
- To take the brokers school you must either:
- Be licensed as a salesperson for 24 months out of the past
24 months which will allow you to
take the brokers school, or
- Take the brokers schooling after 24
months of being a salesperson. Then you can sit for the brokers test.
The brokers school is 48 hours.
- You can apply through a broker and
work for them as a broker/salesperson.
- You can apply to the Missouri Real Estate
Commission for your brokers license once you have passed the
brokers test.
The real estate exam is offered Monday through Friday at the Daily
Testing Center in Jefferson City, Springfield, Kansas City and St
Louis. The test fee is $55 and you will receive your results
the same day before you leave the Center. You must call to make
an appointment to take the test which you can do during the brokers
school. They will not accept walk-ins.
The fee for the brokers school is $335. The course materials
are $40 and can be picked up the first day of school.
